Eyes Wide Open – Puppies at 2 Weeks

Their eyes are wide open…Australian Labradoodle Puppies at 2 weeks old.

The puppies began opening their eyes yesterday.  If you look closely at the eyes you will notice they are a bit cloudy. This is normal and the eyes will clear up with time.  They are all healthy and they are developing equally.  They are each weighing about 2 lbs. now and are getting stronger.  Eating and sleeping makes up most of their day except for the interruption the kids give them by sneaking them out from mom and into their arms for some cuddly time.  The kids have given them each Disney names to help identify them.  So if you would like to refer to a specific puppy use the name listed under their picture.  We have posted pictures of each puppy with their respective names on the website under the “Available” tab.  If you would like to see more individual pictures click here! If you would like to learn more about this stage in a puppies life click here.

Kylee is being a bit more social with her puppies.  Prior to this week she would allow our other Australian Labradoodle, Ruby, to visit the puppies.  She now is tolerant of Ruby’s curious looks and sniffs.  She still occasionally will remind Ruby with a growl that she had better not wake her babies.  I’m not sure if it is grouchy sleepless mom or protective grumpy mom that is speaking.  Kylee is an excellent mother making sure her puppies are clean and well fed at all times.  If she leaves the whelping pen…it isn’t for long before she will hustle right back in making sure nothing is out of place.

We enjoyed the 4th of July festivities at our home with family and friends.  The puppies are still unable to hear so the fireworks didn’t disturb their sleep.  Kylee on the other hand was rather restless with the booming of distant mortars.  We live in a fairly remote area and our community discourages fireworks but the boom from mortars carries far.
